Name: Red Steel 2 Console: Wii Type: First Person Shooter Rating: 8.5

Doesnt he look Bad @$$?

“Red Steel” was a prototype, testing the Wii remotes ability to simulate a gun, or a sword. There were some flaws, but now with the new Wii motion plus, the actions with the remote should be much smoother.

Inspired by games like “Twilight Princess” and the original “No More Heroes”, Ubisoft intends to make the sequel to “Red Steel” even more addictive than its predecessor.

Interviewers from gaming magazines like Gaminformer and Nintendo Power Rush to interview members of the “Red steel 2” team.

An interviewer (I) from the Nintendo gaming website approached Creative Director Jason Vandenberghe (JV). JV has worked on several recognizable titles in the gaming world like “The Lord of The Rings: Third Age” and “X-Men, The official game”, plus many others.

Methinks this guy has NOT seen "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

I: In the original “Red Steel”, the control of the guns were difficult to use, and, no offense, crap.

JV: (Laughs) No offense taken. The controls for the first game were rather…Clumsy.

I: How do you go around the problem on the sequel?

JV: Not too long ago, Wii Sports Resort introduced this cool little device called a Wii Motion Plus. It makes the Remote more sensitive, and run more smoothly.

I: How can you describe the new game?

JV: Sheer awesomeness.

I: Does the first game connect to the sequel in any way?

JV: Yes it does, but I don’t want to spoil those details.

Wrapping up the Interview, I dive deep into the Story and Art of “Red Steel 2”.

The Architecture of the city of Caldera blends the old west, Japanese pagodas, and a blend of modern to boot.

This creates a stunning Visual to the eyes. The art looks like the game “Borderlands”, but the story has some original ideas blended with other, classic western and Japanese ones also.

Let’s Start with The city, Caldera. The Fictional city placed in an American Desert SOMEWHERE!!!

As I stated before, the architecture is a treat to the eye, with realistic dust clouds clinging to the earth.

The Buildings are a blend of feudul Japan and the American Old West

The campaign begins as an unnamed Hero, the last member of the Kusagari Clan, is being dragged across the desert, tied to the back of a motorcycle. He manages to break free, but Payne, the leader of the Jackals – a vast group of outlaws, murderers and thieves – steals the Hero’s katana. While evading the Jackals, the Hero rescues his old swordsmaster Jian who was to soon be executed by the Jackals. After the rescue, Jian lets the Hero borrow his sword until the Hero can get his own from Payne.

Basically, you free the city from their own fear against the evil clans who have divided the city. They look to you, Only Known as the Mysterious Swordsman, for salvation. It’s up to you. Good hunting.

The Characters

The Hero: Only known as the Swordsman, he was exiled from his clan, and left with a normal sword, that turns out to be the ultimate sword of the clan.

Jian: The Swordsmaster that trained the hero, and gave him the legendary sword of the Kusagari clan before he was exiled.

And many more, but you gotta play the game to find out.
